The Walt Disney Company has exciting news! They announced plans for a new Disneyland park in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This park will be built on Yas Island and developed with the help of a local company called Miral.
Disney wants to attract visitors from all over the world, including the Middle East, Africa, India, Asia, Europe, and more. Disney CEO Robert Iger said, “Disneyland Abu Dhabi will be authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati.” This means it will have classic Disney characters and stories but will also celebrate Abu Dhabi’s unique culture, beautiful beaches, and amazing buildings.
This new Disneyland will be the seventh Disney resort in the world, joining others in places like California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Iger explained that the new location will make it easier and cheaper for millions of people to visit.
Abu Dhabi already has successful attractions like the Louvre museum and the soon-to-be-built Guggenheim museum. Miral, the local partner, is known for running many hotels and amusement parks, including Warner Brothers World and Ferrari World.
Josh D’Amaro, who manages Disney Experiences, said this new park will be modern and full of technology. Interestingly, Miral will fund, build, and run the park, while Disney will keep an eye on things. D’Amaro feels confident in this partnership.
The announcement of Disneyland Abu Dhabi came as Disney reported strong earnings, with overall sales rising to $23.6 billion. Plus, Disney’s streaming service gained 1.4 million new subscribers, bringing the total to 126 million.
