An Indian entrepreneur living in Luxembourg has sparked a lot of discussion online after he criticized the “incompetence and moral bankruptcy” he sees in daily life in India. Himanshu Upadhyay, who leads the Indian Business Chamber of Luxembourg (IBCL), made these comments in response to a tweet from a man who praised Delhi’s Noida area for its beautiful buildings and roads.
Upadhyay shared his own experiences living in Noida, saying that many people around him were not very nice. “I left India because of the incompetent and morally corrupt people I had to deal with,” he wrote. He mentioned that everyday life for him was tough, with problems like power cuts, water shortages, and pollution. He felt the people around him were often angry and frustrated, and even educated individuals were involved in dishonesty. He didn’t want to raise his children in such a harsh environment.
Upadhyay believes that it may take two more generations before people in India learn how to be civil, moral, and sensible. His post received mixed reactions. Some people supported his views, while others said he was generalizing. One person pointed out that he could choose to leave India, but others might want to stay and improve things at home. Another comment reminded him that Noida is not a perfect example of morality in India.
