Chennai had partly cloudy skies on Sunday, with temperatures reaching a hot 37 degrees Celsius during the day and dropping to around 29 degrees at night. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says there’s good news! The city is expected to cool down a bit with light rain on Monday, May 5.
What’s Happening in the Next Few Days?
Chennai will see more clouds and rain this week. The weather forecast predicts rain on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with cooler temperatures dropping to a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 36 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall Across Tamil Nadu
The IMD shared that a cyclonic circulation is pushing in, bringing light to moderate rain to many parts of Tamil Nadu. The temperatures should drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius. Areas expected to see rain include Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tenkasi, Puducherry, Karaikal, Thirunelveli, and Kanniyakumari.
As the week goes on, the rain might get heavier. The weather department warns that this could lead to slippery roads and traffic jams in some areas.
