How many young people today know about the amazing gramophone? For many, it’s just a cool old piece of furniture. But I have a blurry memory of how special it was to listen to music on a gramophone, a wonderful machine different from the radio.
When I was a child, my mom had a gramophone that she still used. My older sisters loved it too! This amazing machine had a simple turntable that played music from big round records called 78 RPM records. It also had a unique speaker that looked like a tulip, which made the music sound even better. You just had to place the record on the turntable, wind it up, and—voila! For about four and a half minutes, you would be surrounded by your favorite songs!
