Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has made a big promise to the people of Bihar. He said that if his party wins the elections next year, the money given to senior citizens, widows, and disabled people will increase from ₹400 to ₹1,500 every month!
He mentioned that people over 60 years, those with disabilities, and widows will benefit from this change through social security programs. Tejashwi, who used to be the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, was quoted saying, “We promise to deliver when we get the chance,” and he criticized the current ₹400 monthly payment as “too little.”
This news comes a week after he promised people “200 units of free electricity,” claiming that many are suffering because of high electricity bills. Tejashwi also talked about creating “10 lakh jobs” and mentioned that there have been many new government jobs in Bihar, which made leaders of the ruling party unhappy.
In nearby Jharkhand, where RJD is part of the ruling coalition, people voted for the party due to the success of their social security plans. The elections in Bihar are expected to be held around October or November next year.
