Delhi Weather Update: Rain and Winds Persist Until May 8!

Delhi faced another tough day as weird weather conditions continued on Saturday. The city experienced light rain, strong winds, and cloudy skies after Friday’s heavy downpour caused a lot of trouble in the area. On Friday morning, heavy rain, loud thunder, and winds reaching up to 74 km/h caused big problems. Many roads were flooded, traffic moved very slowly, and several flights were either delayed or changed their routes. This bad weather has led to calls for better infrastructure, especially for drainage systems and power services.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says this unusual weather is because of a strong weather system from the west affecting northwestern India. The IMD has predicted that more rain and wind will hit Delhi until at least May 8.

On Saturday, the highest temperature was around 34°C, which is pretty normal. However, the lowest temperature was unusually low, about 8°C below what it normally should be. The IMD believes that maximum temperatures might rise by 3–4°C over the next day, but not a lot will change after that.

From May 4 to May 8, Delhi might see some more light rain, drizzle, and thunderstorms, with winds reaching speeds of 25 km/h. Luckily, there are no heatwave warnings for this time.

On a lighter note, Delhi’s air quality got a bit better on Saturday morning. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) was at 127 at 6 am, which is in the ‘moderate’ category.
