Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, two famous Pakistani cricket players, have had their Instagram accounts blocked in India because of a legal request. This decision came after a terrible attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 people lost their lives, mostly tourists.
When users in India try to visit Babar and Rizwan’s Instagram pages, they see a message saying, “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”
Not just them, other Pakistani stars like Shoaib Akhtar, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf also have their Instagram accounts blocked in India. However, some older stars like Shahid Afridi, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis still have their accounts active in India, allowing their followers to view their content.
This wave of blocking accounts comes after the Pahalgam attack, where the Indian government is taking strong actions against Pakistani social media accounts with a lot of followers in India. Recently, several Pakistani YouTube channels were also restricted. Notable personalities like Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, and Basit Ali can no longer have their YouTube videos viewed in India.
Other Pakistani celebrities, including Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, Hania Aamir, and Fawad Khan, have also faced account blocks on Instagram in India.
Currently, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). They are big names in cricket, and fans in India often talk about their performances. Unfortunately, both players are struggling in the ongoing tournament. Babar has scored only 117 runs in 6 matches, with a top score of 56 not out. Meanwhile, Rizwan’s team, the Multan Sultans, is in last place with just one win out of seven games.
Sadly, the PSL games are not being shown live in India anymore, as broadcasters Sony TV and FanCode stopped showing them after the terrible Pahalgam attack.
