As the NEET UG 2025 exam approaches, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is taking strong actions to protect students from fake news. Recently, they asked Instagram and Telegram to remove more than 120 accounts that were spreading false information about the exam question paper being leaked.
The NTA found 106 Telegram channels and 16 Instagram accounts sharing these confusing and scary claims. This action is part of their effort to stop misinformation and ease students’ worries before the big medical entrance exam.
The NEET UG exam will take place on May 4, 2025, at over 5,000 centers across 550 cities in India.
To stop these false claims, the NTA has contacted Telegram and Instagram to quickly delete these accounts. They also want the platforms to provide information about the people running these groups so that legal actions can be taken against them.
Since launching a new reporting portal on April 26, the NTA has received more than 1,500 reports mainly related to fake claims on Telegram. They are encouraging everyone to report three kinds of problems: websites that say they have access to the exam paper, people claiming they have the exam content, and those pretending to be NTA or government officials.
People should know that making false claims can lead to serious penalties under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act. If you spot anything suspicious, you can report it until 5 PM on May 4, 2025, at https://nta.ac.in.
