Udaipur: A police constable tragically lost his life and four others were hurt when a police vehicle was struck by a speeding car on the Gogunda-Pindwara highway on Thursday morning. This happened near Krishna Kanhaiya Hotel in Khakhri village, Rajasthan.
The police team from Begun in Bhilwara was bringing an accused person back from Gujarat when the accident took place. After the crash, the driver of the speeding vehicle quickly fled the scene, said Probeshner Madhav Upadhyay, the officer in charge of Gogunda police station.
The crash was so powerful that it caused the police vehicle to slam into a divider and get stuck in a culvert. Police constable Devnarayan Gurjar died at the scene. Three others, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Basilaal, Constable Sunil, and driver Balwant Jat, along with the accused, Alfaz Mansuri, suffered serious injuries.
Emergency services, such as highway patrol teams and ambulances, were quickly sent to the accident site, Upadhyay reported. Local villagers helped rescue the injured and took them to Udaipur district hospital. The body of the deceased constable has been placed in the mortuary at Gogunda hospital.
The police have filed a case and are trying to find the hit-and-run driver.
