This week, a controversial MAGA activist named Valentina Gomez disrupted a peaceful Muslim gathering at the Texas State Capitol. She jumped on stage, grabbed the microphone, and shouted hateful comments about Islam. The crowd responded with chants of “Allahu Akbar,” trying to drown out her insults.
In a video from the event, Gomez yelled, “Islam is a terrible religion and I will NEVER let Sharia Law take over Texas!” She added that “this is a Christian nation” and claimed there are “57 Muslim countries.” After her rant, she was pushed off the stage.
Gomez shared a video of her actions online, claiming, “Islam has no place in Texas. Help me to Congress so we can end Islamization.” Other far-right activists, including Laura Loomer and Brigitte Gabriel, supported her, with Loomer saying, “GO GIRL!! Love this!”
Valentina Gomez is a Colombian-American who moved to the U.S. in 2009. She previously ran for Missouri Secretary of State but did not succeed. Her campaign was known for controversial acts, like burning LGBTQ+ books and making offensive comments in LGBTQ+ neighborhoods.
