On Tuesday, the Supreme Court made an important decision about a previous ruling by the Calcutta High Court. The High Court had asked the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) to look into a West Bengal cabinet decision regarding temporary job positions in state-run and aided schools. The Supreme Court said that the CBI does not need to investigate the cabinet’s decision to create these temporary job positions, but the investigation into how 25,753 teachers and staff were hired will continue as ordered by the High Court.
The Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar had ruled on April 3 that all the 25,753 appointments were not valid because the hiring process was not fair. More updates are expected soon.
