Vaibhav Suryavanshi, just 14 years old, made history by scoring a century in the IPL, becoming the youngest player ever to do so. After his amazing match against Gujarat Titans, he wanted to call his dad first. He smiled as he said, “Pahle call papa ko hi karunga,” which means “I will call my dad first.”
When his dad, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, answered the phone, Vaibhav greeted him with “Papa parnaam,” showing his respect and love. Sanjiv felt very proud and thanked Romi Bhinder, who helped discover Vaibhav’s talent during trials. The Rajasthan Royals, the cricket team Vaibhav plays for, shared their touching conversation on social media.
Vaibhav hit his century in just 35 balls, breaking records set by famous players like Yusuf Pathan and Chris Gayle. Sanjiv expressed joy, thanking the Rajasthan Royals for training his son. He specifically thanked head coach Rahul Dravid and others for helping Vaibhav improve his game.
The Rajasthan Royals bought Vaibhav for ₹1.10 crore during an auction, which is four times what they originally planned to spend. Vaibhav has also played for the India U-19 team and made his first-class debut earlier this year.
Even though he was born after the IPL started, Vaibhav is now the youngest player to score a century in the league’s history. He thanked his mom, Aarti, and dad for their sacrifices, like waking up early and managing their lives so he could practice cricket. He said that he wouldn’t stop working hard until he could play for the national team. “I want to help India win and I will keep working hard for that,” he vowed.
