Turkey Denies Arms Shipment to Pakistan as India-Pakistan Tensions Rise

Turkey has denied claims that it sent military gear to Pakistan, especially as tensions rise with India. Recent reports on social media and some Indian news sites suggested that several Turkish C-130E Hercules planes had landed in Pakistan carrying weapons. However, the Turkish government clarified that one cargo plane simply stopped in Pakistan for fuel before continuing on its journey. They urged people not to believe unverified stories from outside sources.

Tensions increased after a deadly attack in Pahalgam, India, which left 26 people dead. History shows that India often reacts strongly to such attacks, which has caused Pakistan to mobilize its military and prepare its air bases.

Despite Turkey denying new arms deliveries to Pakistan, the two countries have a long history of defense cooperation. From 2020 to 2024, 10% of Turkey’s arms sales went to Pakistan. They share technology and produce military equipment together, including drones and fighter jets. Recently, Pakistan received combat drones from Turkey and has even discussed creating a new fighter jet in collaboration.

The friendship goes beyond just weapons. Turkey supports Pakistan diplomatically, especially regarding the Kashmir conflict. After the recent attack, Pakistan’s Prime Minister thanked Turkey for its strong support.

While Turkey has denied sending new arms to Pakistan, this situation highlights their growing relationship. With China also supplying weapons to Pakistan, the security scene in South Asia is changing.
