On Tuesday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney gave a speech after his party won the elections. He criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, saying he was trying to harm Canada. Carney expressed that America wants Canada’s land, resources, and water, and warned that Trump aimed to control Canada. “This will never happen,” he declared. Carney emphasized that Canadians need to stick together against threats from the U.S.
Although Carney’s party, the Liberals, won, it’s unclear if they’ll have enough seats to control the House of Commons fully. During his speech, Carney pointed out that the friendly relationship Canada had with the U.S. since World War II has changed.
Earlier in the day, Trump suggested that Canada could become the 51st state, promising lower taxes and more military strength. He posted a message on social media saying, “Good luck electing a strong leader who could make Canada great!”
