The new Malayalam movie L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal, hit theaters on Thursday, and fans have mixed feelings about it. On Twitter (now called X), some fans loved Mohanlal’s thrilling entry and exciting jungle fight scenes. However, there were others who criticized the movie for its “poor writing” and felt the “plot ended up being average.”
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, L2: Empuraan is a sequel to the successful movie Lucifer. One fan said, “It’s a stylish movie with a good mix of drama and politics. Mohanlal’s entry after an hour was fantastic, and the visuals were like something out of Hollywood!” Another fan shared, “I felt like I was watching an English movie; that’s how good it was!”
Some fans gave feedback on the two halves of the film. They praised the first half for its great production quality and music, while noting that the second half had stunning visuals and action but could have improved in writing. One fan said, “If it wasn’t for the high expectations, this movie really would have been a blockbuster to enjoy!”
However, there were disappointed viewers too. One comment read, “I don’t understand why they created a simple revenge story when the original had such rich characters. I wish they had explored the more exciting parts.” Another added, “The movie started off strong but lost its way and felt average in places.”
L2: Empuraan is the second film in a planned trilogy that follows Mohanlal’s character and deals with social and political themes. It also stars actors like Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier, and is available in multiple languages like Hindi and Tamil.
