NIIT University (NU) announced on Wednesday that Amitabh Kant will be the new chancellor starting on March 10, 2025. He takes over from K. Kasturirangan, a well-known scientist. Kant previously led NITI Aayog, a government group that creates important policies. During his time there, he launched innovative programs like the Atal Innovation Mission and the Aspirational Districts Programme.
Kant expressed his excitement about joining NIIT University: “It is an honor to be part of an institution so dedicated to connecting education with industries. Today, as the economy changes quickly, universities need to help students innovate and get ready for new job opportunities.”
NIIT University has partnerships with over 700 companies, including big names like IBM, Tata Consultancy Services, Morgan Stanley, and Deloitte. These partnerships have led to 100% job placement for students since the university started, showing its dedication to preparing students for the real world. Prakash Gopalan, the president of NIIT University, mentioned that Kant’s leadership will help the university develop a skilled workforce ready for the future.
