Scott Kelly is a retired astronaut and a hero who flew in space four times. He was also a military pilot and an engineer. He is known for spending the longest time in space for an American astronaut – a total of 340 days on a special mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in 2015. During this mission, he lived in space for a whole year! Scott commanded the ISS during three different missions. He now lives in Houston, Texas.

Mark Kelly: The Senator

Scott’s identical twin brother, Mark Kelly, is also a retired astronaut. He served in the Navy and now works as a U.S. senator from Arizona since 2020. Recently, people noticed Mark in a video saying goodbye to his Tesla car. He talked about how he didn’t expect it to be a big deal when he bought it. He also shared his feelings about President Donald Trump and the government team led by Elon Musk, saying it made driving the car harder for him.

NASA’s Twins Study

NASA did an exciting study called the Twins Study from 2015 to 2018. Scott and Mark participated in this study to learn about the effects of being in space for a long time. While Scott was in space for almost a year, Mark stayed on Earth. Scientists looked at both brothers before, during, and after the mission to see how being in space affects our bodies and minds.
