New Delhi – Actor Tillotama Shome is busy with her new film “Baksho Bondi,” which she started just three days after finishing the second season of the show “Paatal Lok.” In both projects, she played strong female characters who are more than just pretty faces.
In “Paatal Lok,” she played SP Meghna Barua, a tough police officer, and in “Baksho Bondi,” she plays Maya, a Bengali woman living in Kolkata. Maya works several jobs to help her family while her husband, a retired soldier with PTSD, goes missing under mysterious circumstances.
“Baksho Bondi” was shown for the first time at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival last month. Shome felt that the team from “Paatal Lok” supported her as she moved on to “Baksho Bondi.” She said, “Everybody on set knew I was going from one project right to another, and it felt special for me.”
Tillotama shared that both films show female characters with real stories and feelings. She is proud of this moment in her life.
“Baksho Bondi,” whose English title is “Shadowbox,” is directed by first-time filmmakers Tanushree Das and Saumyananda Sahi. Shome found the script really good, which made her trust the new directors.
She has been praised for her work in “Baksho Bondi,” which looks at important issues like class differences, family struggles, and mental health. She believes that people from wealthier backgrounds should pay attention to their privilege and how it affects others.
Even though she hasn’t signed up for her next project yet, she enjoys the meaningful work she has done, but feels a bit spoiled because finding new roles is hard right now. She mentioned that she’s trying to write to keep herself busy.
“Baksho Bondi” also features actors Chandan Bisht, Sayan Karmakar, and Suman Saha.
