An American influencer, Sam Jones, is facing a lot of anger on social media after a video showed her picking up a baby wild wombat and separating it from its mother. The video quickly went viral and made many Australians upset, including the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, who called her actions “outrageous.”
Sam later apologized on Instagram, saying she was worried about the animals’ safety after seeing them on the road. She noticed the mother and baby wombat were not moving and thought they could be hurt. In her apology, she insisted she didn’t mean to harm them and just wanted to help.
However, after apologizing, she posted another message where she criticized the Australian government for killing many wild animals each year. She accused the government of wasting taxpayer money by using helicopters to shoot animals like horses and deer, which she said is a bigger issue than her wombat incident.
The Prime Minister responded by saying that taking a baby wombat from its mother is disrespectful. He suggested that Jones should try taking a baby crocodile instead to see how that goes!
