The Indian government has ordered 228 Pakistani nationals living in Madhya Pradesh to leave the country by April 27. An official told PTI that their job is to keep track of such individuals. Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to all state chief ministers to ensure that no Pakistani citizens stay in India after this deadline.
On April 22, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killed 26 people. Following this, the Indian government has decided to end visa services for Pakistani nationals right away. All valid visas for Pakistanis will no longer be accepted after April 27, 2025. The only exception is medical visas, which will stay valid until April 29, 2025. Anyone from Pakistan in India must leave before their visas expire.
Additionally, the Indian government has declared certain officials from the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi as “persona non grata,” meaning they have to leave India within a week. India will also reduce the total number of staff at the Pakistani High Commission from 55 to 30 by May 1, 2025. These changes are part of India’s response to recent security threats.
