Wisconsin Judge Arrested: Immigration Enforcement Sparks Legal Battle

On Friday, federal agents arrested a judge in Wisconsin named Hannah Dugan. This happened at the courthouse and is connected to a fight between President Donald Trump’s government and local officials about immigration laws.

The U.S. Marshals Service said Judge Dugan was taken into custody, and the FBI’s director, Kash Patel, shared on social media that she was arrested for blocking an immigration enforcement effort. However, he quickly deleted the post. As of now, the FBI has not commented on the arrest.

The Trump administration has had many legal challenges when trying to enforce strict immigration rules. Several courts have stopped these efforts, causing disagreements between the government and the judicial system.

The judge’s arrest occurred after a top official in the Justice Department told federal prosecutors to investigate local officials who might be getting in the way of immigration enforcement. The memo mentioned that officials could face charges for helping immigrants without legal status.

In his deleted post, Patel mentioned that immigration officers were trying to capture a man named Eduardo Flores Ruiz, who he called an “illegal alien.” Patel said that U.S. agents caught him after a chase. Court records show that Ruiz had appeared in Judge Dugan’s courtroom for a hearing about a minor battery case on April 18.
