A lawyer at a big, fancy law firm suddenly quit because he wasn’t allowed to spend time with his pregnant wife. His name is Nick Huber, and he shared this story on X (previously Twitter).
Huber talked about a lawyer who worked at one of the top law firms in the world. This lawyer graduated from a prestigious Ivy League school and worked really hard for five years, putting in thousands of hours to climb the job ladder. At just 32 years old, he was making nearly $900,000 a year, which is about ₹7.8 crore. But all that money meant he was working way too much—over 80 hours every week!
One day, the lawyer got a job offer to work on a big case in another city. The problem? His wife was eight months pregnant, and he wasn’t going to miss his child’s birth. He asked his boss, a senior partner, for an exception to stay close to home, but instead, the partner told him to just keep working, saying he and other lawyers had done the same.
The partner basically gave him an ultimatum: miss the birth of his son or quit the job. So, the lawyer made a big decision—he yelled “F off” at his boss and quit right there on the spot.
Huber called this a “sad deal” because the lawyer worked so hard to get where he was. However, many people online supported the lawyer’s choice. They praised him for standing up against a workplace that pushes people too hard and emphasized the importance of keeping a balance between work and personal life.
Some comments were playful, with one user sarcastically saying, “He can always have another kid, but he’ll never handle that case again!” Others saw it differently, stating that the lawyer chose the right path and was now free to enjoy his new family without being tied down by work. One person said it seemed like a win because he could now focus on his life without work stress.
