On April 24, 2025, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) team from Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh, jumped into action to fight a huge forest fire. The fire stretched about 3 to 4 kilometers and was getting dangerously close to the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s Office and nearby homes.
When the Additional Deputy Commissioner called for help, about 250 brave SSB troops quickly took action. They brought firefighting tools like fire extinguishers, water tankers, and ambulances. Working with local officials and community members, the SSB team worked tirelessly for over six hours to contain the fire.
Thanks to their hard work and bravery, they saved more than 500 houses and helped nearly 1,000 people, including seniors, women, and children, to escape safely. The SSB soldiers showed great courage and put their own lives at risk to stop the fire from causing a major disaster.
