Don Bongino, who recently became the FBI’s Deputy Director, has faced serious health challenges. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system. Before this, Bongino had surgery for a big tumor in his neck.

He had experienced many lipomas, which are harmless fat lumps, so when he found another lump on his neck, he thought it was just another lipoma. He told Fox News that he first thought the lump was from a wrestling practice where he had been choked. But after getting an MRI, the radiologist gave him shocking news: it wasn’t a lipoma at all.

Bongino had surgery to remove the tumor and shared that the whole tumor was successfully taken out. However, he got some unexpected news afterward; the tumor turned out to be lymphoma. He remained positive and thanked his supporters, saying he felt good and was grateful for the treatment options available.

In February 2021, Bongino shared on Instagram that he had finished his treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma. He described it as a tough journey but was hopeful saying, “It’s all over. I hope.”

Lymphoma affects about 200,000 Americans every year. It begins in lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that helps fight infections. When someone has lymphoma, these cells grow out of control, making it harder for the immune system to protect against sickness.
