UK Man Buys WWII Shipwreck for ₹34,000—Find Out Why

Dom Robinson, from the UK, made a surprising buy—a World War I shipwreck! He spent just ₹34,000 (about £300) for the SS Almond Branch, which sank over a century ago. Dom found the ship’s listing online on Facebook Marketplace and quickly grabbed the chance.

The SS Almond Branch is a large cargo ship, weighing 3,300 tons and measuring 330 feet long. It was sunk by a German submarine near Cornwall on November 27, 1917. Since then, it has been hidden underwater.

Dom loves exploring shipwrecks and has discovered around 20 to 25 of them over the years. He uses special scans to find interesting spots on the sea floor and then dives to explore them. He shares his adventures on his YouTube channel.

However, not everyone is excited about his new purchase. His wife, Suzi, 53, was very unhappy with the buy. Dom shared that she called it “a waste of money.”

Yet, Dom still has dreams about finding something special—the ship’s bell. He mentioned that if anyone finds it, they should tell the Receiver of Wreck, who will then ask if he wants to keep it. If it’s found, he humorously said, “hands off my bell!”
