Spiritual leader Jaya Kishori faced criticism last year for carrying a fancy Dior bag that costs over ₹2 lakh. The 29-year-old was seen with a special Dior tote that had her name on it when she was at the airport in October, and it sparked anger online.
In a recent podcast with Smita Prakash, Jaya talked about the backlash and said, “I’ve had this bag for over three years. The criticism was unnecessary. People should listen to what I say, not judge my personal life.”
She explained that being spiritual doesn’t mean you have to give up everything you enjoy. “Just because I have nice things doesn’t mean I’m not spiritual,” she said. When asked if the criticism was meant to hurt her reputation, she answered, “Yes. If people can’t compare to your character, they attack your reputation.”
After her Dior bag got attention, Jaya said it was customized and did not use leather. “It’s leather-free and made to my liking, which is why my name is on it,” she explained.
Jaya also clarified that she doesn’t preach giving up all material items. “I am not a saint. I live a normal life with my family and I never tell anyone to stop earning money,” she said.
