Recently, Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), met with party leaders in Punjab. After this meeting, the BJP’s RP Singh claimed that things might not be going well for the AAP in Punjab, especially after their loss in the Delhi Assembly elections.
Singh pointed out that four of the 94 MLAs invited to the meeting didn’t show up. He said, “It’s clear there’s trouble in Punjab. Many people are unhappy with Kejriwal after he lost in Delhi. One MLA even said Bhagwant Mann should be removed as Chief Minister.”
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had met with Kejriwal and the MLAs a day earlier. Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa commented that calling such a meeting right after the elections shows the party might split soon. He suggested that mid-term elections might happen in Punjab because the party is worried about losing again, just like in Delhi.
Another BJP MLA, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, criticized Kejriwal for creating problems in the party to become Chief Minister of Punjab. Recently, Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa claimed that over 30 AAP legislators in Punjab are ready to join Congress.
In response, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann questioned how many MLAs the Congress has in Delhi and insisted that law and order in Punjab is better than in many other states. He said, “We live in a border state and have to work harder to keep things safe
