Mumbai Police have arrested a man who made a serious threat about a terrorist attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s airplane on February 11. The police received a call warning that terrorists might attack PM Modi’s aircraft when he was leaving for a trip abroad.
Taking the threat seriously, the police quickly informed other security agencies and started an investigation. They were able to trace and arrest the caller in the Chembur area. Authorities later found out that the man has mental health issues.
Prime Minister Modi left New Delhi on Monday for a four-day visit to France and the United States. In Paris, he worked with French President Emmanuel Macron on important discussions about artificial intelligence. Modi also visited Marseille, where he honored freedom fighter V.D. Savarkar, known for trying to escape captivity at the city’s port.
In a late-night tweet, PM Modi said, “President Macron and I just arrived in Marseille. This visit will focus on strengthening ties between India and France. We are opening an Indian consulate to improve connections between our people. I will also pay tribute to Indian soldiers who fought in the First and Second World Wars.”
Next, Modi will travel to the United States to meet President Donald Trump at the White House. He will be the fourth world leader to visit Trump since he returned to office, following leaders from Israel, Japan, and the King of Jordan.
