The Women and Child Development Ministry is looking into what YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia said about parents and sex. Minister Annapurna Devi stated that they will ask the National Commission for Women (NCW) for a report on this matter. Allahbadia’s remarks were made on his YouTube show, “India’s Got Latent,” and upset a lot of people. He later apologized, saying that he is not very good at comedy.
NCW Calls for Action
The NCW has asked Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to take quick steps to deal with growing inappropriate content on online platforms and social media. In a letter, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar asked for strict rules to stop users from posting unsuitable material.
Criticism of Allahbadia’s Remarks
Allahbadia’s comments caused a big backlash, and many people criticized him. He has almost 16 million followers but later said he wasn’t the best at making jokes.
Legal Issues Raised
The NCW pointed out that such comments break several laws, including those that protect women and children. These laws include the Indecent Representation of Women Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The Commission said that comments like these support bad stereotypes and can harm the safety of women and children.
Next Steps for the Ministry
In response to this issue, Minister Devi said they would seek a report from the NCW. The NCW also wants to know what actions the Information Minister will take.
Focusing on Digital Safety
The NCW said it is very important to keep women safe online. We will have to wait and see what new rules the government will create to solve these problems.
