Swati Maliwal, a Member of Parliament from Delhi, criticized Atishi, the outgoing Chief Minister of Delhi, after she celebrated winning her seat in the Kalkaji area during the recent assembly elections. Maliwal shared a video of Atishi dancing and enjoying her victory and called it a “shameless display,” especially since AAP, Atishi’s party, suffered a heavy defeat overall.
She questioned, “What kind of shameless display is this? The party lost, all the big leaders lost, and Atishi is celebrating like this?” Atishi won her seat by 3,521 votes against her opponent, Ramesh Bidhuri from the BJP. Even though Atishi accepted her win, she acknowledged that AAP lost many key seats, including those of popular leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia.
The BJP made a strong comeback, winning 47 seats and ending AAP’s rule in Delhi after 27 years. Meanwhile, the Congress party did not win any seats. Following these results, Maliwal criticized AAP’s performance and made pointed comments about the fate of leaders who mistreat women.
Even though Maliwal often criticizes AAP and its leaders, she has not left the party yet. She remarked that “God punishes those who harm women,” making clear her disapproval of AAP’s actions.
