Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has launched an investigation into claims made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders. They say the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tried to bribe AAP candidates to switch parties. This action follows a request from Delhi BJP leader Vishnu Mittal to look into these allegations.
On Thursday, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of trying to convince 16 AAP candidates to leave their party before the Delhi Assembly election results, which are set to be announced on February 8. Kejriwal claimed that AAP candidates were offered ministerial jobs and ₹15 crores each if they agreed to change sides. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and other party leaders support these claims.
In a letter to the Lieutenant Governor, Mittal said that AAP’s allegations are serious but lack proof. He accused AAP leaders of creating confusion and panic in Delhi by sharing these false claims.
