Delhi Air Quality Moderate as Temperatures Rise: Key Insights

Delhi’s air quality is moderate as temperatures rise. Missing air quality data was reported. Expect changing weather with a western disturbance ahead.

An average Air Quality Index of 167 moderate was 1738904009440

On Friday, the temperature in Delhi went up a little, and the air quality was considered “moderate.” However, the air quality data was mostly missing for a whole day, which has happened three times this year.

At 9 AM on Friday, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) was 167, which is in the moderate range. This number came from 36 out of the 39 air quality monitoring stations in Delhi. On Thursday, there was only data from five stations available until around 9 PM. The daily air quality report for cities in India was missing until 4 PM on Thursday.

According to a report released around 9 PM on Thursday, the average AQI for the previous 24 hours measured at 4 PM was 177, which is still moderate. However, by 9 PM, the real-time AQI reached 208, which falls into the “poor” category.

An official from the Commission for Air Quality Management explained that a technical problem at the National Informatics Centre caused the missing data, even though the information was ready.

Looking forward, a weather change called a western disturbance is expected to affect the area starting Saturday, bringing partial cloudiness. On Friday, the minimum temperature was 10°C, which is one degree lower than usual. On Thursday, it was 8.2°C. Over the weekend, temperatures are expected to stay between 9-11°C during the night and 24-26°C during the day.
