Mexican drug cartels are reportedly planning attacks on U.S. Border Patrol agents using drones and explosives due to strict border rules by former President Donald Trump, as reported by the New York Post. An internal memo, called “Officer Safety Alert,” warns federal agents about this new danger, which comes from social media comments and other information sources.

The memo says that on February 1, 2025, the El Paso Sector Intelligence and Operations Center learned that cartel leaders authorized the use of drones packed with explosives against U.S. Border Patrol agents and military personnel at the border. Agents are advised to stay aware of their surroundings, wear body armor, and carry heavy weapons while on duty.

Additionally, the memo indicates that cartels have been using social media platforms, like TikTok, to encourage illegal immigrants to disrespect immigration officers by doing mean things like spitting in their food or damaging their vehicles. Some posts even suggested attacking border agents.

Just last week, Border Patrol agents in Fronton, Texas, were fired upon by members of the cartel who had crossed into the U.S. while trying to escape military forces in Mexico. This warning comes as the Trump administration increases efforts to stop illegal immigration by conducting raids and enhancing border security.
