Arvind Kejriwal, the head of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), shared his thoughts on the upcoming Delhi assembly election set for February 5. He believes his party could win as many as 55 seats out of the 70. But, he added, if women in Delhi step up, encourage their families, and vote for AAP, they could win even more—maybe over 60 seats!
Kejriwal spoke at a roadshow in Kalkaji, urging mothers and sisters to convince the men in their homes to vote for AAP. He emphasized that the BJP is a party for the wealthy and that only he, Arvind Kejriwal, can truly help the people.
“This election is particularly important for women. If they get involved, we could win more than 60 seats. AAP will win the New Delhi, Jangpura, and Kalkaji seats by a big margin!” he expressed.
The election results will be announced on February 8. In the last election in 2020, AAP easily won 62 seats, while the BJP got 8 and the Congress didn’t win any. In 2015, AAP was even more successful, taking 67 seats, leaving just three for BJP and none for Congress.
Campaigning Comes to a Close
The exciting campaigning ended at 5 PM on Monday. According to the Election Commission’s rules, all public events, functions, and canvassing have to stop 48 hours before voting begins.
There’s been a fierce race for votes between AAP, BJP, and Congress. The campaign has been full of wild promises and catchy slogans. AAP has called BJP the “Bharatiya Jhootha Party” which means “Indian Lying Party,” while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called AAP “AAP-Daa” or “disaster,” and has labeled Kejriwal as “Ghoshna Mantri,” meaning “Announcement Minister.”
