Kashmir Newspapers Honor Victims of Pahalgam Terror Attack

Many newspapers in Jammu and Kashmir, like Greater Kashmir and Rising Kashmir, printed their front pages in black to remember the 26 innocent people killed in a terror attack in Pahalgam. These newspapers wanted to send a powerful message to everyone about the tragedy.

Rising Kashmir had a headline in white saying, “TERROR STRIKES PAHALGAM.” They mentioned that 27 civilians, mostly tourists, were hurt badly in the attack. The letter “O” in the word “TERROR” looked like a bleeding gunshot wound.

Greater Kashmir wrote “Gruesome: Kashmir Gutted, Kashmiris Grieving” in white on their black page. They also included a red subheadline that read, “26 killed in deadly terror attack in Pahalgam.”

Their editorial said, “The massacre in the meadow – Protect Kashmir’s soul.” It talked about how this attack darkens the image of a place known as a “Paradise on Earth.” The editorial stated that this terrible attack hurts not just innocent people but also Kashmir’s identity, culture, and peace.

It expressed deep sadness for the families of the victims who came to enjoy the beauty of Kashmir but faced such sadness instead. The piece called for a better approach to security and suggested ways to prevent future attacks, like improving intelligence and working with the community.

Kashmir’s people have seen too much violence, but they continue to be strong. The editorial urged everyone—government, security forces, and citizens—to unite against terror instead of allowing it to divide us.
