Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has announced that his party will not team up with the Congress for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February. Kejriwal clearly stated, “There will be no alliance in Delhi,” during a press conference in New Delhi on Sunday.

This announcement is surprising since both AAP and Congress are part of the opposition group called INDIA and previously worked together in the last Lok Sabha elections. Sadly for them, the BJP won all the Lok Sabha seats in Delhi during the elections.

Both parties had also tried to form a partnership for the Haryana Assembly elections in October but couldn’t agree on how to share the seats after several discussions. This means the Delhi elections will now see three parties: AAP, Congress, and BJP all competing against each other.

Kejriwal’s news comes right after an incident where someone threw a liquid at him while he was walking in the Malviya Nagar area of Delhi. AAP claims the liquid was spirit and that the person wanted to hurt Kejriwal. However, the police said it was just water. They also mentioned that the event where this incident happened was not approved by them. The BJP denied a claim from AAP that the person who threw the liquid was a member of their party.

The incident is serious because it marks the third attack on Kejriwal in the last 35 days, according to AAP. The police have detained the person responsible, named Ashok Jha, who works as a bus marshal in Delhi.

Looking ahead, the Delhi elections are set for February 2025. AAP is hoping to win again after a huge victory in 2020, when they won 62 out of 70 seats. Meanwhile, the BJP wants to regain power in Delhi after being out of control for 25 years.
