Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, has asked all people coming to the Maha Kumbh in 2025 to follow safety rules and listen to the local authorities. He wants everyone to have a safe and organized experience during this important religious event.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister encouraged pilgrims to bathe in the Ganga at nearby ghats instead of trying to reach the crowded Sangam area. The Sangam is the sacred place where the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical river Saraswati meet, and it attracts millions of visitors every year.
He said, “Dear devotees, please come to Prayagraj and bathe at the ghat of Mother Ganga that is near you. Don’t try to go towards the Sangam area. Everyone should follow the guidelines given by the administration to help keep things organized.”
CM Yogi reassured devotees not to listen to rumors and confirmed that there are good arrangements in place to manage the large crowds safely.
Recently, there was a minor accident at Sangam when some barriers broke, causing a few people to get hurt. The situation, however, was controlled quickly, and those injured received treatment at the Central Hospital.
This incident happened as more than 80 to 100 million people were expected to come for the ‘Amrit Snan’ on Mauni Amavasya, which is one of the most important bathing days. Other significant dates during the Maha Kumbh include February 3 (Basant Panchami), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have checked in with CM Yogi to discuss the situation and promised full support. Spiritual leaders like Devkinandan Thakur and Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya Ji are also advising everyone to avoid the crowded Sangam Ghat and instead enjoy the holy waters of the Ganga and Yamuna at other ghats.
Ravindra Puri, the head of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, has announced that the Akharas will not participate in today’s snan due to the crowd chaos. He suggested that devotees should come back on Vasant Panchami for their holy dip instead.
