Siddaramaiah held an important meeting on Tuesday to talk about how to better address problems related to caste discrimination and support for marginalized communities. He made it clear that government officials should be held responsible for any failures in dealing with these social issues.

During the meeting at Vidhana Soudha, Siddaramaiah focused on the outdated Devadasi system, which is illegal now. He warned that district commissioners and police chiefs will face consequences if this practice continues. He wants to ensure that women who were part of this system receive proper help and that a scientific survey is done to understand their current situation.

He also mentioned that many caste-based crime cases do not lead to convictions, and it is easy for those accused of serious crimes to get bail. He stressed the importance of appealing bail decisions and working hard to secure convictions. He pointed out delays in promotions for marginalized groups and showed his disappointment over reports that didn’t lead to any action.

Legislative council member Sudham Das raised concerns about these issues, and Siddaramaiah agreed that if recommendations are ignored, they lose value. He also expressed concern about police filing counter-complaints in caste cases, which can hurt victims’ chances of getting justice.

Siddaramaiah emphasized the need for all departments to follow rules on promotions for marginalized people and warned against unfair practices. He called for quick submissions of charge sheets in caste crime cases within two months and urged lawyers to act fast on any court orders.

He discussed the problems faced by women’s groups in Raichur concerning the Devadasi rehabilitation issue and asked for a detailed report on it. Finally, he stressed the importance of quickly resolving cases related to the Pocso Act and ensuring that fake caste certificates are dealt with properly. On the Forest Rights Act, he requested that officials speed up land title issuance to eligible individuals, ensuring no forest dwellers are removed from their homes
