Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed his deep sadness over the attack, saying it was a terrible act against innocent people. He strongly condemned the violence and said that no amount of money can replace the loss of loved ones, but this support is a way to show solidarity with the grieving families.
The chief minister also promised ₹2 lakh for those who were seriously injured and ₹1 lakh for those who had minor injuries. All necessary arrangements are being made to transport the bodies of the deceased back to their homes with respect. Abdullah assured that the injured are receiving the best medical care possible and that the community is with the families during this difficult time.
The attack happened at a popular tourist spot in Pahalgam and led to the deaths of at least 26 people, including two foreign tourists from the UAE and Nepal, as well as locals. Abdullah vowed that the government would work tirelessly to bring those responsible for this cruel act to justice, stating, “Terror will never break our resolve.”
