Videos of Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States, playing golf while dealing with a diplomatic issue involving Colombia have gone viral online. Trump is making headlines both on the golf course and in the White House. He threatened to impose extra taxes on goods from Colombia after its president canceled two flights carrying deported Colombian migrants back from the U.S. This situation arose while Trump was enjoying a round of golf at Trump National Doral in Miami, marking his first golf outing since taking office.
On social media, people praised Trump for handling a serious diplomatic problem with Colombia while looking relaxed on the golf course. One user said, “President Trump is showing Colombia who is boss during his golf game. That’s impressive!” Another commented, “Trump is playing golf and dealing with the Colombia situation at the same time. What a hard worker!”
The tensions began when Colombian President Gustavo Petro blocked the return of two U.S. military planes loaded with Colombians being deported from California. Petro claimed that deported migrants deserve respect and should not be treated like criminals. He insisted that Colombia would only accept its citizens through regular flights and not military planes.
In response to this, Trump announced he would set a 25% tax on all goods coming from Colombia, which could go up to 50% within a week, along with banning travel and revoking visas for Colombian officials and their supporters. Although Petro initially threatened to put taxes on American goods, he eventually stepped back. Late Sunday, Colombia agreed to take back the deported migrants, resolving the issue.
Trump enjoys spending time at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, which serves as his “Winter White House.” He loves golf and often hosts important meetings there. During his first term as president, Trump visited his golf properties many times and played golf for over 300 days. He even had notable golf games with leaders from other countries, like Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Now, sources say Trump plans to play golf less frequently, focusing more on the country’s needs, while still enjoying occasional games with friends like Elon Musk and Senator Lindsey Graham.
Trump has always combined business with golf, using it as a way to have meetings with world leaders. He owns 18 golf courses worldwide, providing him with many chances to mix leisure with diplomacy. Mar-a-Lago is his favorite place, where he feels comfortable conducting important business amid his golf rounds.
