Recent surveys show that many people in Australia think using adult websites like OnlyFans is a type of cheating in a relationship. The views are quite different between men and women. According to a New York Post report, 56% of women believe that subscribing to someone on OnlyFans is “definitely cheating.” This is a lot higher than the 38% of men who think the same way.
In a survey conducted before news.com.au’s Great Aussie Debate, 48% of men said it might be cheating depending on what kind of content is being viewed. In contrast, only 36% of women agreed with this view. Surprisingly, only 9% of women and 15% of men believe using OnlyFans is “normal” for people in relationships.
One woman interviewed said it could be cheating, but that it really depends on the specific types of content her partner watches. Her friend added that spending money on it can also matter. “If you’re paying for something and talking to a specific person, that’s definitely cheating,” she stated.
However, some men disagreed. One said using OnlyFans isn’t like having an affair but still crosses a line in a relationship. He mentioned that if he had been with someone for five years and found out they were using it, there would be a big fight. Another man said he wouldn’t even date someone who looked at naked men online.
Interestingly, couples living together seem to worry less about OnlyFans compared to those who live apart. Among people living together, 41% thought it depends on the interaction type, while 55% of those in separate homes considered it cheating.
Lastly, experts say while watching adult content together can help relationships, keeping it secret usually causes problems
