On Sunday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived in China for a two-day visit. This is the second major visit from India to China in just over a month. Misri, who used to be the Indian Ambassador to China, is visiting on January 26 and 27. The timing is special since it coincides with China’s Republic Day celebrations and the upcoming Spring Festival, which begins on January 29.

During his visit, Misri will meet with Chinese officials to discuss improving India-China relations. This comes after leaders from both countries agreed to work together on various issues, including politics, trade, and cultural exchanges. The Chinese government has welcomed Misri’s visit, expressing hope for positive outcomes.

In recent months, communication between India and China has picked up after a long period of difficulties due to the military standoff in Ladakh. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning mentioned that talks between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October set the stage for better relations.

Misri’s visit is significant as he follows National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who recently met with his Chinese counterpart. They discussed important topics like the peaceful resolution of border disputes and the resumption of travel to the Kailash Mansarovar site in Tibet.

China has also proposed restarting direct flights to India and easing visa rules for Chinese visitors. The dialogue between India and China aims to bring stability and cooperation back to their relationship. Overall, the two countries seek to resolve issues peacefully and foster stronger ties.
