Arunoday Saha, the former vice-chancellor of Tripura University, is thrilled to receive the Padma Shri award for his work in education and literature. Even though he studied economics and earned a PhD from a university in the US, Saha says literature is his true passion.
“I am very happy to see my name on the list of Padma Shri award winners this year,” he said. “It is nice that my writing has been recognized after so long.” He thanked everyone who played a part in selecting him for this prestigious award.
Tripura’s Chief Minister, Manik Saha, shared his congratulations on Facebook, saying, “Congratulations to Prof Arunoday Saha for receiving the Padma Shri award in Literature and Education. This award recognizes his amazing work and inspires many people.”
The state’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, also congratulated Saha and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for acknowledging Tripura.
Born in 1948 in Bishalgarh, Tripura, Prof Saha has had a long career, starting as a school teacher and eventually becoming a vice-chancellor at a central university. He has written ten books and was recently awarded the Tripura Vibhushan Award in 2023 for his significant contributions to education
