On Republic Day, over 5,000 folk and tribal dancers showcased 45 different dance styles from all over India. For the first time, these talented performers danced along the entire Kartavya Path, making sure every guest could see the stunning display.
The 11-minute show, called “Jayati Jaya Mamaḥ Bharatam,” was organized by the Sangeet Natak Academy. This colorful performance celebrated India’s rich tribal and folk traditions in honor of the 150th birthday of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, an important figure in Indian history.
The dancing highlighted themes like ‘Developed India’, ‘Heritage and Progress’, and ‘One India, Great India.’ The lyrics for the show were written by Subhash Sehgal, while famous musician Shankar Mahadevan composed the music.
Dancers wore their own vibrant costumes, jewelry, and headgear. They also used traditional props like spears, swords, and drums, adding to the excitement. More than 60 special items were created by experts from the National School of Drama to make the performance even more visually stunning.
Representing the youth, artistic traditions, and women’s empowerment, these performers brought India’s beautiful culture to life. This was an amazing event that highlighted the diversity and spirit of India!
