The induction ceremony will happen on June 12 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Nile Rodgers, the chairman of the Hall of Fame, said, “Songwriters create the great songs that make music possible. Without them, there’s no music industry.”
Last year’s inductees included Steely Dan, R.E.M., Timbaland, Hillary Lindsey, and Dean Pitchford. At last year’s ceremony, R.E.M. surprised everyone by performing their hit song, “Losing My Religion.”
