Trump’s Second Inaugural Address: Bold Claims and Controversial Promises

Donald Trump’s second inaugural address resembled a campaign speech focused on divisive themes, pledging to reshape America while neglecting unity.

On Monday, President Donald Trump gave his second inaugural speech, which felt more like a campaign speech than a celebration. He doesn’t like fancy words, focusing instead on practical ideas. Before the speech, some thought he might talk about “unity,” but he mentioned it without really meaning it. Trump said national unity is returning to America, but his speech suggested the opposite.

He wants to change the US government, make America a strong power again, limit immigration, and get rid of programs focusing on diversity. He lied about the 2020 election being stolen and pardoned many people involved in the January 6th riot at the Capitol, the very place where he took his oath again.

By the end of the day, Trump signed many executive orders. These included closing the Southern border to stop immigration, ending birthright citizenship, and pulling the US out of global agreements on climate change. He also stopped some of President Biden’s orders that helped lower drug prices and allowed transgender people to serve in the military.

Although he didn’t repeat the phrase “American carnage” from his first speech, he painted a scary picture of America that needs saving. He claims that he survived an assassination attempt because God wants him to “make America great again.”

He mixed past and present, talking about America’s history and dreams, like wanting to put a flag on Mars and recalling the settling of the West. He promised to fight against foreign gangs and deport millions of immigrants.

During his speech, he made many bold statements, saying the US would be rich again when it is already the wealthiest. He hopes to stop “government censorship” while he himself has sued the media. He boasted about building the best military and supporting American workers.

He praised different groups of workers and stated that he would fight for them. Although Trump is getting older, he reminded his supporters that speeches are just words—real actions happen in Congress. He declared, “I am with you, I will fight for you, and I will win for you.” We’ll see what happens next.
