IAF Officer Faces Charges After Bengaluru Road Rage Incident

Jyothi, the mother of Vikas Kumar, said her son was attacked by an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer in Bengaluru early on Monday. She stated that he was beaten, bitten, and thrown onto the street. She also accused the officer of trying to break her son’s phone and twisting the story to blame him instead. “He was beaten, bitten, thrown onto the road, and they even tried to destroy his mobile phone. We have filed a complaint against the officer for attempted murder,” Jyothi told PTI.

Vikas Kumar works as a team leader at a call center and was arrested after Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose claimed that he was attacked and verbally abused by Vikas and others while riding his bike. This incident happened when Bose was driving to the airport with his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Dutta. The officer claimed that Vikas was driving aggressively and tried to hit their car. He later shared a video on social media showing blood on his face and alleging that Vikas insulted them in Kannada.

However, the situation changed when CCTV footage showed the IAF officer attacking Vikas, contradicting his version of the events. Because of the video evidence, he was booked for attempted murder. In the footage, the officer can be seen arguing with Vikas and hitting him while his wife tries to stop him.

Vikas, on the other hand, said he was just passing by when the woman made a comment that started an argument.

The police have stated that both sides attacked each other and believe this incident stems from road rage, dismissing rumors of language issues. “Both versions of the incident are being investigated,” said Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda. He added that the details will be revealed after the investigation is complete, mentioning that it all started over a minor disagreement between the biker and the people in the car.
