New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah has set up a special team that will visit Badhaal village in Rajouri district, Jammu. This team will investigate the mysterious illness that has caused 15 deaths over the last six weeks. The team will be led by officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and will include experts from the Ministry of Health, Agriculture, and other related fields.
The team plans to leave for the village on January 19 and will work closely with local officials to understand what happened, offer immediate help, and ensure similar incidents do not happen in the future.
The situation started on December 7, 2024, when a family of seven got sick after a community meal, leading to five deaths. A few days later, another family of nine became ill, resulting in three more deaths. Then, on January 12, another community meal caused ten people to fall ill, including six children. Tragically, five of these children have died, and one is in critical condition. A 60-year-old woman passed away as well.
Local health officials say that tests show the illness isn’t caused by bacteria or viruses, which means it’s not contagious. However, toxic tests found harmful substances in various samples taken from the affected individuals. Meanwhile, Rajouri police have created a special team to investigate possible reasons for these tragic deaths, including rumors of a property dispute or family conflict.
