Assam’s Roadshow: Welcoming Global Investors to Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit

Assam Minister Bimal Borah invites global investors to Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit to enhance partnerships and showcase Assam’s growth potential and opportunities.

Guwahati, Assam: Assam’s Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Public Enterprise, Bimal Borah, recently met Anil Agarwal, the Chairman and Founder of Vedanta Resources, during a roadshow in London. Borah invited Agarwal to the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit, which is happening in February.

During their meeting, Borah and Agarwal talked about how Assam is becoming a great place for investments because of the support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. They discussed ways to work together, focusing on using natural resources wisely and helping the community.

Borah said that Agarwal’s commitment to social welfare and skill development was very inspiring and matched Assam’s goals of creating jobs and boosting the economy. He asked Agarwal to look for more opportunities for partnership that could help Assam grow even faster.

Later, Minister Borah visited the Space Scale White City and the Imperial Innovation Hub in London. He attended an investors’ meeting where he encouraged British investors to join the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit next month in Guwahati. On his arrival in London, he also met Catherine West, the British Minister for Indo-Pacific, to discuss how both the Indian and British governments are working to make Assam a strong economic hub with lots of opportunities.

Borah emphasized the shared history between India and England and how Assam could be a good place for business and trade. Earlier, he spoke with many business leaders and investors in Dubai, promoting Assam’s development and its unique culture and resources.

Other Assam ministers are also on the move to promote the summit. Minister Keshab Mahanta recently met Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Liew Chin Tong, to invite Malaysian companies to invest in Assam. Mahanta has been talking to semiconductor companies as well, aiming to make Assam part of the global semiconductor supply chain.

He shared positive news about meetings he held with Malaysian businesses and how these talks could bring new investments to Assam’s tech sector. The Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit will take place on February 25, and previous meetings in Thailand and New Delhi have laid the groundwork for this event. Notably, Singapore has been chosen as the first partner country for the summit in February 2025.
