Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Saudi Arabia for two days, and he believes that the friendship between India and Saudi Arabia is really important, especially in uncertain times. This will be PM Modi’s third trip to Saudi Arabia, having visited in 2016 and 2019 before.
In an interview, PM Modi said that the partnership between India and Saudi Arabia has amazing potential. He praised Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as a leader who has greatly improved their relationship and is admired worldwide for his Vision 2030 reforms.
PM Modi explained that India and Saudi Arabia have a long history of trade. He said, “Our economic ties are as old as the monsoon winds.” Even during global challenges, their trade has increased. He noted that energy, agriculture, and fertilizers are the main areas they trade in, but they are also expanding into other areas.
He added that Indian businesses and Saudi companies are connecting more and more, making their relationship even stronger. Saudi Arabia is a key energy partner for India, and India helps with Saudi food security. PM Modi said that people in Saudi Arabia love Indian rice, while Indians enjoy Saudi dates.
PM Modi emphasized that both countries are investing in each other, with Indian companies playing a big role in helping Saudi Arabia achieve its Vision 2030 goals. They are even planning a Bilateral Investment Treaty and a Free Trade Agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to boost their economic relationship.
He concluded that the growth story of India offers many opportunities for Saudi investors, and they aim to create stronger ties across various sectors.
